A little about me.
My name is Susan lemon and I have Ovarian Cancer.
I was diagnosed in December 2011 after having hernia surgery. I went in for what i thought was a routine hernia surgery all looked well by my Omentum was twisted with my colon and being pushed through my hernia due to it being tangled the Omentum needed to be removed. Standard procedure for anything being removed is to have it biopsied it looked like a normal Omentum no'one not even my Dr. expected it to come back with cancer cells, But it did. I received a call within a week of the surgery and I was asked to come in. Where i learned I had Ovarian Cancer. after multiple MRI's and cat scans countless trips to the Dr. to have my blood drawn I had been poked and prodded more in a month than i had been in all of my life. I had an x'ray done on my lungs to check for any abnormalities. the biggest fear was that the cancer metastisised to other parts of my body including the colon the kidneys the liver and the lungs. The xray showed clear lungs. :) January 2012 time to ring in the new year. While most were celebrating i was preparing for the biggest fight of my life. My fist step in the fight was my complete hysterectomy wich took place in the first weeks of January.
This post was written by my YOUNGEST child, she is my emotional one. Much like I was when I was her age I always needed to know every little detail, when something wasn't fully understood I had a great need to get to the bottom of it. Always asking questions until I figured out the truth of an issue. Well for the first time in my life I don't always want to know every little issue. I find that they come anyhow with time. This change in me has been a tad bit difficult for my youngest of children. she has that NEED to know that everything is going to be ok. So I attempt to give her the "Truth" of Ovarian Cancer and at the same time leave her with Hope and understanding The truth is there is NO cure for it, you can go into remission and with any amount of luck its a nice long one. Cancer is a life changing event in ones life. I can only explain my acceptance, or perhaps its more my defiance of this change as Rome wasn't built in a day ..LoL
